Part 1 Google to the Max

Ex.1:
After searching for the keword  "google page rank", I clicked on the first page listed, instead of clicking on the site itself, I clicked on the "cashed" portion of the link. Clicking on this link brought me to a page where the words "Google", "Page", "Rank" were highlighted in an array of colors. The term "Page Rank" was suggested to be on a webpage for it own convenience. Page Rank can Rank webpages to the computer's user's ease. On this page, there is a search bar where a page can be ranked for their on-topics.

Ex.2:
I searched the "grass snake" on Google and I found the top searches were snakes. I searched "snake grass" and I found the top searches to be snakes in the grass. I search "Snake In the Grass" and the top searches were images of snakes in the grass. I searched "snake+in+the+grass" and the top search was a definition from Urban Dictionary. Using quotes on "Snake in Grass" caused an exact search for the statement "snake in the grass". The top search for each term indicated the popularity of the link.

Ex.3:
I searched the phrase "The one-child law of the people's republic in China" and the top search was a wikipedia link. I searched the phrase " George * * Bush " and wikipedia's link was the top viewed. I found all of a person's praying mantis needs with the search of "ears praying mantis."Links with the most popularity, like Wikipedia, are usually the top of a search result.

Ex.4:
I searched "babe ruth 1921...1935" and I found Babe Ruth during his glory days. I found a digital camera when searching "digital camera...$300 4.5..5 megapixels." Using dots between numbers help finding numbers in a range.

Ex.5:
I found the mileage of a hybrid car from searching [Intitle: milage "hybrid cars."] I found pages on Bush's greenhouse effect from typing intitle:"greenhouse effect." I can find sheet music written in honor of Abraham Lincoln with inurl:lincoln "sheet music."

Ex.6:
To find fact sheets and reports I used "filetpe:pdf death-rate malinant mesothelioma "united states." To find powerpoint presentations I used "filetype:ppt site:edu china one-child policy."

Ex.7:
I apprehended the URL of morocco recipes from the URL in the address box "&restrict=countryMA."

Ex.8:
I used Google to define words, but now there is a new strategy for defining words with the blue statistics bar.

Ex.9:
To find pages in French I used an advanced google search "www.google.com/advanced_search."

Ex.10:
I found useful currency devices on Google from searching carats in a pound, electrons, and gigabytes.

The rest of part one will return shortly.

Oil Spill ~ Fisherman's Lament

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Reflection to Fisherman's Lament

Making this video was easier than the past videos because finding the images were the easiest to find. Finding images were rather saddening, so this was a depressing topic to cover. With the experience I have acquired with the internet, I was able to find images more efficiently with using quotations for "oil spill." Putting quotations decreased the chances of finding images of unneeded material.
I felt that making a video on the oil spill will help increase awareness for the problem. The more a topic is used, the more people are aware of. Take those Animal Bracelets for an example, only a few people actually owned them before it was an explosion of a fad. If this would occur for an actual use, like supporting world hunger, the world would be less corruptive. I am just so disgusted of how ridiculous some fads are and I hope more people would be interested in helping a cause instead of some machines.

Oil Spill ~ Fisherman's Lament

I am creating another digital movie that will be about the oil spill in Louisiana. The oil spill was absolutely dreadful. The main occupancy over in the area is fishing, and so man people are out of their job as a fisherman, because the oil spill has killed a large amount of undersea creatures. The presentation I shall create is how the oil spill has affected the fisherman, through their point of view. The digital story will first show how badly the oil spill has affected the jobs of the people of Louisiana. Then the next part will show how a person can help this crisis. Of course, I always include a persuasive ending to help "save the world." So, the video is about how the oil spill has heavily damaged Louisiana, and the fisherman now have no jobs, but nevertheless, with enough help we can all end the oil spill. The results are up to us!

Reflection of Digital Project 2

Reflection  of Digital Project 2

I created a video about the issues of Earth. The video I created was about the dangers of natural disasters, nuclear damage to Earth, and how harmful smoking is to Earth. As I created the video, I used various images that portrayed grief. I used music that felt was necessary to play in the video. In the video, I concluded with saing that there is a wa to save the Earth and those who suffered from the calamities of natural disaster. I felt that I sent a message to the viewers of m video. The message MAY be about how the word is in need of our help. I felt that the video I created will be used to educate those who are unaware o world calamites and how the affect other countries.

Digital Narrative Script 2

In the world we live in, there is a lot of good things. However, in this world, there are people or natural elements who destroy good things for their own amusement. Most of the countries on the planet have nuclear weapons to fight warfare. As the violence increases, the higher the death rate is. Nuclear power is rising in several areas, like in North Korea. Kim Jung Il has a huge amount of power that portrays a threat of nuclear nuke. He has enough nuclear power to erase a country on Earth.
In Africa, there is an area in Africa that is suffering from genocide; a desire to erase a race from the planet, usually by slaughtering. This is portraying the same aspect as the Holocaust. Genocides have to stop; it accomplishes nothing. Not many are aware or even show disbelief that such an act is still in existence. More people need to be aware of the things that happen in less inhabitant areas, where there are indeed people. Natural disasters heavily affect all countries. The country Haiti suffered from a HUGE earthquake that destroyed 90% of areas and left millions homeless. People have donated millions of dollars just to help them, and now Haiti is halfway back in running with 50% repairs complete.

Digital Portfolio REFLECTION

Digital Stories has improved the education of myself. Digital Stories has benefitted me in both school work and long term projects. The heavily unnecessary project "Graduate Portfolio" has given me thought of including what was in m Digital Story. The thought of "Going Green" has been recommended through the first Digital Story, and I continue to type the narrative about the world issues of today and what to do to help. I think that Digital Stories are a great technique to teach a generation of students.

Digital Story 2 Topic

My digital story is about the affects of global warming and technology. My story included technology that is helping the world, like by ''going green." As of now, there are harmful natural disasters that are tearing up the world. I included many exotic sounds like the dramatic dogma song. The beginning was all about the advancement in technology, and then I started to discuss global issues. Near the end, I used "going green" technology to portray my reasoning. In the credits, I said the world is in need, in we could make a difference to the change the world

Generation Y

Generation Script

Our generation can be described as a technological world. We are a part of growing technology in our every day life. Technology has changed so much since the last generation: faster computers, iPods, cellphones, and other small devices. Our technology has changed so much since the last year. Now we have smaller devices with more power than bigger devices. The first iPod had 4 gigabites, now modern iPod could have up to 16. As a part of our technological world, culture is modernizing due to technology. Technology has transformed many of our nations today. Even though nations are modernizing, there is still a downside. In generation Y, Earth's resources are becoming scarce. This is due from all of the resources humans have taken from Earth, which includes oil and burning fossil fuels. Right now, the ice caps are meltingWe are bleeding out Earth's resources. Even though this critical problem persists, technology is still thriving in the way people live their lives.
As of now, oil is becoming scarce, and the price of it is increasing dramatically. As the prices rise, the fewer the resource is left. At some point, there will be no more oil, and technology must create a mean for transportation the does not burn fossil fuels. Our generation is aware of this, and we are trying to make a difference. Technology is trying to make us aware that Earth is damaged harshly, and we are changing our daily habits to help the environment. There are many "going green" websites to help change the environment. These websites are trying to spread the word on saving the environment. Our generation can be described as a technological world. The world is in our hands.
